背景信息

Apolipoprotein A4 (ApoA4), abbreviated as ApoA4, is a member of the apolipoprotein family and is primarily found within chylomicrons (CM), very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), and certain high-density lipoproteins (HDL). May have a role in chylomicrons and VLDL secretion and catabolism. Required for efficient activation of lipoprotein lipase by ApoC-II; potent activator of LCAT. Apoa-IV is a major component of HDL and chylomicrons.ApoA4 plays a significant role in lipid metabolism, particularly in the absorption, transport, and metabolism of cholesterol. Synthesized mainly by the intestines and liver, ApoA4 associates with cholesterol and triglycerides to form high-density lipoproteins, thus contributing to the maintenance of balanced cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the bloodstream. Moreover, ApoA4 possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. From a biological standpoint, ApoA4 serves as a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, with its expression levels being associated with atherosclerosis. Furthermore, ApoA4 is linked to obesity and metabolic syndrome.
